Back to Classes, Swim Clinics, Spring Formal and a Risky Side Hustle - Week 29
Spring break is officially over, and the first full week of real classes has begun. Luckily, it’s been a slow start, which has left me with plenty of free time. And what did I do with that time? Well… I might have gone a little overboard on a new project. Not quite sure if it was a great decision just yet, but I’m staying optimistic.
One big thing that started this week is swim clinics. I’ve been helping teach kids—anywhere from 1 to around 8 years old—how to swim. It’s rewarding to see their progress, but I have to admit, teaching kids at this level isn’t really my thing. I prefer coaching swimmers rather than introducing the basics of swimming. Still, it’s an important part of our program, and while I don’t get paid, these lessons bring in a big chunk of income for the team. So, I’m doing my part.
Classes have been pretty uneventful—just going with the flow, and that seems to be working out fine. The biggest thing on the horizon is that our new coach arrives next week, which should bring some changes to our training. Hopefully, it’s a good fit.
One of the highlights of my week was receiving a letter from my grandparents. It was such a sweet surprise, and it really made my day. I miss them a lot, and it reminded me of how much I’m looking forward to seeing family again soon.
Now, back to my questionable decision. I recently found a website that sells Amazon return pallets—basically, boxes full of random returned items that you can buy in bulk. I thought it would be a fun side project, so I went all in… maybe a little too much. Now, I’ve got around 30 items that I need to sell. If I manage to pull it off, I could make a nice profit, but sales have been slow so far. With only six weeks left here before I head home to Sweden, the clock is ticking. Hopefully, things pick up soon!
Lastly, but not least, was Spring Formal! It was a lot of fun to dress up and go to one of the nearby bars. But as an international student, not being allowed to drink in a bar felt a little weird—not that I’m super into drinking or anything, but still. I ended up not staying too long since going out and dancing isn’t really my thing, but it was fun to see everyone from school dressed up and enjoying themselves.
Overall, it’s been a good week—some new experiences, some questionable choices, and a slow build-up to the rest of the semester.
