Bunk Beds, and Building Team Spirit: Counting Down to Go Home – Week 15

Dec 8, 2024

This week brought some much-needed change to my dorm room—we decided to rearrange and stack our beds into bunks. The result? An incredible amount of extra space! The room feels more open, functional, and surprisingly cozy. With all that new space, our room has become a bit of a hangout spot, which is mostly fun, though it can be a challenge when I need quiet time for studying.

Speaking of studying, this week has been packed with it. With fewer swim practices and finals just around the corner, I’ve been focused on preparing for exams. I’m feeling confident that I can pull through and keep my GPA where it needs to be. On a fun note, since the men’s rugby team was away, they kindly lent us their PS5 and TV for the weekend—a cool treat, though not exactly helpful for school productivity!

With Coach away, our practices were led by our GA and a swim alum. Their workouts were fantastic—challenging yet fun—and I felt like the whole team came together, showing real unity. It was refreshing and motivating, making me even more excited for what’s ahead. I hope Coach notices the progress we’ve made when he’s back and takes some insperation.

On a less positive note, the state of our dorm floor continues to be disappointing. The showers are still in awful condition, and it’s frustrating to see such a lack of respect for shared spaces. At this point, it looks like someone was halfway through building a new dorm room in the shower—just add a bedpost and a few decorations, and they’d be set. It’s disheartening and unfair to everyone living here.

As this semester comes to an end, I’m looking forward to going home after next week. I’m ready to recharge my batteries and come back stronger next semester. One final push through finals, and I’m there!
